How it works

From a URL or Figma link to a friction report.

Describe what you want to test and who to test with. InsightLab generates a panel of synthetic users, walks them through your flow step by step, and returns a ranked friction report before anything ships.

Step 01 - Create study

Set up the study with a URL and an audience.

Start a conversation with the AI study planner. Tell it what page or Figma prototype to test, who the target users are, and what tasks they should attempt. No session logs or new instrumentation required.

Website URL Figma prototype URL PostHog context (optional) Task and audience description
Step 02 - Generate

Generate a panel of synthetic users from three archetypes.

InsightLab populates a panel of up to 16 synthetic agents, distributed across three built-in behavioral archetypes. Each archetype has a distinct motivation, patience level, and tolerance for friction.

The Scrappy Hacker

Price-sensitive, highly technical, and impatient. Wants self-serve and API access. Bails fast when a flow has unnecessary steps or unclear copy.

The Risk-Averse Scaler

Security and compliance-focused, methodical, and patient. Pushes through friction if the product feels trustworthy. Drops when something feels unsafe or unpolished.

The ROI Maximizer

Feature-hungry and focused on time-to-value. Moderate patience. Quits when the value of completing the next step is not obvious.

Step 03 - Simulate

Synthetic users walk the flow, step by step.

Each synthetic user attempts every task in order. At each step they record one of three outcomes: continue (routine), hesitate (friction but proceed), or drop (a genuine dealbreaker). The simulation runs in the background and completes in under 6 minutes.

Continue at each step Hesitate with a reason Drop with a verbatim quote

Each agent records why it hesitated or dropped in its own voice. Those first-person reasons become the evidence behind the friction report.

Step 04 - Report

See exactly where users encounter friction.

The friction report scores each step of the flow, identifies where users stall or exit, and provides a concrete recommendation before you commit to shipping.
